Coconut Shell Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Media is a premium water filtration media designed for residential, commercial, and industrial use. Unlike standard charcoal media, coconut shell carbon offers higher hardness, superior adsorption, and longer life. It effectively improves taste, removes odors, and eliminates harmful contaminants for safer, cleaner drinking water.
Key Contaminants Removed
-
✅ Chlorine & Chloramine – Improves taste and odor in municipal water
-
✅ Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) – Includes trihalomethanes (THMs) and disinfection byproducts
-
✅ Lead & Heavy Metals – Safer drinking water for the whole family
-
✅ Pesticides & Herbicides – Protection from harmful agricultural runoff
-
✅ Asbestos & Cysts – Removes dangerous microscopic contaminants
Applications
-
Whole house filtration systems (Big Blue & tank filters)
-
Refillable water filter cartridges
-
Commercial & industrial water treatment
-
Residential drinking water purification
Mesh Size Explained: 8x30 vs 12x40
Activated carbon mesh size determines particle size and flow characteristics:
-
8x30 Mesh – Larger granules. Ideal for higher flow rates and point-of-entry (whole house) systems. Provides lower pressure drop but slightly less contact time.
-
12x40 Mesh – Smaller granules. Better for point-of-use systems (drinking water filters, refillable cartridges) where longer contact time is needed for maximum contaminant removal.
Both sizes are made from premium coconut shell carbon and deliver superior chlorine, taste, and odor reduction compared to standard coal-based carbon.
